We just had a fantastic dinner at Mezza Notte. Since I noticed that there have been some mixed review, I wanted to make sure that I posted a review. Several things stood out:1) Bread basket is AMAZING! Such a pleasant surprise. We were expecting a typical bread basket of white bread and butter, but instead we got spiced tomato focaccia bread, garlic buttery focaccia bread, and yummy Italian bread.2) Dan was a fantastic waiter! He put our pizza in right away to make sure it was timed to be an appetizer. We had great service the whole time. 3) Vanilla tartufo was incredible! Perfect temperature of the ice cream, not too hard or too melty. 4) Our main courses were delicious and the pasta was cooked well.We are definitely coming back! Great experience and reasonably priced too!
Amazing meals! I've been going here for at least 15 years, if anything I find the food gets better every time I go!I've always loved their pizzas and focaccia. At my last visit I had the fried calamari and veal chop which were both out of this world. Our waiter suggested the chipotle aioli for the calamari which made it even better. Highly recommended.
I was hesitant to go here because of the inconsistent and mixed reviews, but they rocked our dinner and I was very happy with the whole night. We had a large group - 18 - so we booked the room at the back which worked very well for us. Service all night was friendly, fast and accurate, and I was very impressed by the efficiency of the staff. The wine list is small but respectable, and we were able to find some good selections at reasonable prices. We started off with an assortment of appetizers - the carpaccio, bruschetta, fried calamari, the rustic della casa platter, and the caprese salad. We gobbled it all up pretty quickly, and nobody had any complaints, so the first course was a success. The entrees were as good or better. I had the veal chop, which was really good. Also getting very positive reviews were the seafood risotto, the grilled mixed seafood, the pizza, heck, pretty much everything we had. The tiramisu also went over really well, but I was too stuffed to have any dessert by then. This place may be inconsistent, but they were on the night we visited, and they fully deserved their rating. Yes, I will be back.
OMG the chicken fettuccine Alfredo here is to DIE for. You can taste the richness and creaminess of the fettuccine sauce. It comes with 2 cheesy bread sticks, a great large portion!!
Visited on a Sat night, we had a group of 13. We were seated in the private room, it felt like we had the place to ourselves it was so quiet. They were even able to accommodate a semi-crying 2 year old. It was earth hour that night, so they dimmed the lights. I got the Pizza Genovese which was wonderful. We stayed a good 2 hours +, thanks Mezza Notte for a wonderful evening! Only thing that was a hassle is the tiny parking lot in front that only fits about 8 cars. I took the TTC so it's a good 5-10min walk to North York Centre Station.
Good Italian Friendly, great wine list, great food - all the standards that one might find in a village in Italy.
About one month ago, attended on a Saturday night with a party of seventeen.Service good, food excellent, wholesome Italian style...Focaccia excellent, and dishes came out simultaneously for the whole party. Only criticism, place a bit dark and decor a little old fashioned---but judging how full the place was, the patrons don't seem to mind. The house Merlot (Italian, of course) smooth and pleasing to the palate...All in all a happy evening....
Buon ristorante italiano in zona North York.Il locale e accoliente, il personsle gentile ed i piatti sono buoni. Buono il rapporto qualita prezzo.
Good Italian For Italian, best option in the area, Finch-Sheppard on Yonge. Typical selections, pizza best option. Service could improve. Reservations a must, save the wait time. Skip the Caesar salad, save your money. Good wine selection.
Delicious!! Have been to both locations and they have never disappointed myself or anyone I have recommended the place to. Portions are generous, not like the small servings you get at some Italian restaurants who care about the presentation and not the portion size (though the presentation is also a plus at this restaurant). My favorite appetizer is the grilled vegetables and have enjoyed the meat and pasta dishes too. We were greeted by Rob who welcomed us to the restaurant and the service was great. We will continue to return and to recommend this place to all.
Great Italian Food Beem going to Mezza Notte for years and have always had great food and vibrant atmosphere. Definitely a neighborhood gem. They also deliver and I've had many private functions there and the food and service were fabulous! Rob the owner is so pleasant to deal with.
The neighborhood trattoria of my dreams This charming trattoria is in the most unhospitable strip of a Yonge Street plaza, next to a Aren't we Naughty store, but inside it is warm, hospitable, and full of good things. Our party of ten were greeted warmly by the hostess and our smiling server. The menu offers some unusual and delcious starters, and we loved the lumachi (snails) and mussels in a tomato broth that we fought for with our spoons. Also grilled vegetables with endive, asparagus and peppers topped with melting goat cheese was a winner. We tried a variety of mains, the grilled snapper was perfectly cooked, and the veal in port wine was delicious, with a peppercorn kick. The rigatoni with vegetables and ricotta and the penne sciciliana were both good. The kids were very happy with their pizzas. Try really hard not to devour the delicious bread basket that is put on the table with bruschetta and pizza bianco in it, so you will have room for what follows. Wines were reasonably priced. We couldn't manage dessert, the portions on the other dishes made sure of that. This is a great family restaurant that is always welcoming and always good. The delightful service is a real draw, and will keep us coming back for more.
